Link disclosure: what happens when you press “Visit site”

Where do we stand today?

Scorura is funded by commission: we earn when you sign up to a service through a “Visit site” button. That is the model, and it goes in the first line, before you read a single score.

No agreement has started yet, and nobody has paid us. So no visit link carries a referral identifier: it passes through an address on our domain and ends at the company’s own address unchanged, and you can check that in the address bar before you go any further.

The line you see beside the buttons

Above every list carrying visit buttons sits one line in small type. This is what it says today, as you see it:

The line changes by itself the day the first agreement starts, because it is generated from the same record that decides who pays us.

When does a visit link appear?

A visit button is not handed to everyone, and it cannot be bought. It follows one published rule, in three cases:

• Every service on the list carries a visit link, whatever its score.
• The link goes to the company’s own page, with no referral identifier while no commission agreement exists.
• The score decides nobody’s link; it tells you what we found on their pages.

Our relationship with each service

This table is the disclosure that matters: every service on the site, its score, whether it has a visit button, and whether we have a commercial relationship with it. The last column is generated from the relationship record, so it cannot say one thing while the truth is another.

How does a visit link work?

The link is simple and inspectable: an address on our domain that temporarily redirects you to the company. We add no identifier of yours, set no cookie, and send the company nothing about what you were reading. The values below are read from the site’s own configuration files at the moment this page was built:

The rules we follow

For us disclosure is an editorial commitment before it is a legal one, but it is both:

• The disclosure appears before the link and beside it, not in a page footer and not after you have already clicked.
• Every visit link carries in its markup the attribute identifying it as a potentially paid link, so it counts as no endorsement to a search engine.
• We state the commercial relationship for each service separately, rather than one vague sentence about “partners”.
• Advertising content must identify itself: any page carrying links we could earn from says so at the top.

There are no agreements yet, so the log is empty. This section is published before it fills on purpose: the day the first agreement starts, the company’s name and the start date are written here and appear in the changelog the same day, so the difference between before and after stays documented.
